With Lerry, MoveByNumbers gains a colleague for quality assurance
More confident decisions and an easier time taking on new clients. That is what MoveByNumbers has gained with its AI colleague Lerry, an AI that knows the profession and speaks up when it is unsure.
From googling to an AI that knows the profession
MoveByNumbers is an accounting firm in Stockholm, founded in 2021, working mainly with artists, speakers and influencers. The firm combines finance with a passion for dance.
The firm previously used AI mostly to look things up, with general tools such as Perplexity and Claude. Over the spring, its use of AI took off in earnest, and Lerry arrived as an AI trained specifically for accounting and tax.
A reference work for tax and regulation
Jonny Boström, founder and CEO of MoveByNumbers, is an authorised accounting consultant with over 30 years in the industry and is known to many as "the dancing accountant". Day to day, the firm turns to Lerry instead of googling or asking a general AI tool, whether it is a pure tax question, how something should be recorded, or a procedural question under the Swedish Companies Act.
Questions about the Companies Act in particular are always double-checked. Jonny remembers an occasion when a general AI tool gave him the wrong answer: asked whether a proposed dividend can be changed at the general meeting, it first came back with a flat yes, and only on a second search did the caveat appear, that the dividend may never be raised above what was stated in the annual report.
"We always double-check questions like that with Lerry. It works like a reference work, but built for our profession."
An honest AI that does not guess
When Jonny puts his finger on the best thing about Lerry, he lands on trustworthiness.
"The best thing is that it neither guesses nor bluffs. It is built on the professional literature in accounting and tax, and it tells you when something cannot be done or when it does not have everything it needs to give a good answer."
Lerry sticks to its sources and is clear when the documentation is not enough for a confident answer.
Lerry is the analysis tool the firm had been missing
The firm has taken on many new clients over the year, and there Lerry has taken on an unexpected role. When a new client arrives with a SIE file, the firm previously had no standalone tool to analyse it in: an experienced accountant like Jonny had to open the file and read it line by line instead. With Lerry, the firm can now have a SIE file analysed whatever system it comes from, both during onboarding and when putting together a quote.
"We send in the SIE file and get help seeing: this looks good, and this is something you should look at."
Higher quality and more confident decisions
The firm saves a great deal of time on its use of AI in general. But what Jonny chooses to highlight about Lerry in particular is not the time, but the quality. MoveByNumbers promises its clients quality-assured deliverables, and that is where Lerry makes the biggest difference. As the firm's only senior accountant he has no colleague to double-check his work, and so he uses Lerry to review his annual reports: a draft is sent in as a PDF, and Lerry can flag, for example, notes missing from a K3 annual report.
"We have better quality assurance now. It feels like we are on firmer ground when we can double-check things, and we can raise quality faster."
For Jonny, who often has to quality-assure his own deliverables, Lerry becomes a knowledgeable sounding board: someone to check with before he stands behind an answer. It is not about letting the AI take over, but about being able to deliver with greater confidence. The firm's next step is to let Lerry do even more: build reports directly for clients and connect it to the bookkeeping software for a weekly check on discrepancies.
